  Now that Gays can legally get married, if one of the gay couple want to become a JW would he or she have to get a divorce?

  i remember years ago maybe 20 years ago an elder or co was giving a talk on armaggeddon and he said that we know we are close to the end when homosexuals get the same rights as straight people.

  he said jehovah would never allow gay people to marry because it would be an abomination and he would do the same as sodom and gommorrah.

  what if a member of a gay couple decides to become a jws would he or she have to get a divorce?.

  I doubt if a divorce would be necessary. The JW's would most likely take the stance that same-sex marriage is no marriage and is therefore null and void right from the start, although this could cause legal problems, especially if the abandoned one found someone else. I would imagine the newly-converted one would have to cease dwelling with his partner and would most likely even have to give an undertaking never to be with him in an unchaperoned situation.

  Quite why JW's think the good Lord has nothing better to do than to hang around watching what we do with our genitals is quite beyond me.

  good evening folks!

  we have encountered this advice countlessly on wt study articles.

  this especially comes out to ease the waiting pain of brothers eagerly waiting for god's new world and the end of the old system of things - with all the sufferings that go along with it.. i also noticed this being floated to try to extend the patience of brothers who are jumping ahead of the organization in terms of thinking - as if they are pre-empting the organization on certain sensitive views and issues.. if a brother has gotten an idea or insight that is far more superior than the present affairs in the society, or regarded as way in advance - he can be branded as a brother "not in order".

  as most of us know, the society is spending 10's of millions of dollars on a giant, state of the art, secluded bunker country club headquarters in very remote, isolated warwick ny.. the question that "some" have is, why?

  if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?

  why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.

  LONDON BETHEL 'EXPANSION' DONATIONS

  a letter has been read out in uk congs requesting donations to support the expansion/relocation?

  of the london branch, as well as requesting free skilled labour for the project.

  further letters are promised on the subject.. (w87 12/1 p. 30 "unlike the churches of christendom, jehovahs witnesses do not take up collections or send out envelopes to solicit donations.

  NEW UK BETHEL - START SAVING

  a letter was read tonight at the meeting with this information.. apparently, three years ago the gb authorised the uk bethel to consolidate all the uk resources.

  so far over 300 sites have been looked at but more information will be forthcoming.. in the meantime we can work to this end by saving so that we can contribute to the new facility.. also skilled and unskilled trades people can register for volunteer work, collect an application form from the secretary.. to me it seems like they are going to move out of london (mill hill, bittacy hill etc), get a cheaper area, pay for the new facility with donations and free labour.

  they will then sell all the high value property and probably send the money to the us.

  I shunned my best pal. Actually, correct that, I tried to shun him. I saw him in the street, gave him a conspiratorial wink, to which he rowed into me and told me to make my bloody mind up and stop being an umpitty-jump.

  Head Gasket Sorted - with pics

  ok if you clicked on this you might be a mechanical geek like me.

  some people love buying shoes or handbags for me is shiny new tools.. for the last few weeks the head gasket has been blowing on my rover 214. fortunately the oil and water hasn't been mixing so no harm done.

  the combustion gases have been blowing through the water jacket which made it sounded like a witches cauldron.

  You're a brave man, Cofty! The K series Rover engine has wet liners that sometimes drop below the level of the head when you're working on a dismantled engine. I managed to get 170 bhp out of my tweaked 1.8 K series engine after I'd fitted a new turbo to my 75. (£300 recon from Midland Turbo's)

  my question: if i actively participate in my own disfellowshipping byfollowing along with the practice of shunning (not greeting, not raising hand at meeting to comment, showing up to go out in service, no conversations at all with jws) does that effectively men that i condone and accept the punishment rendered by the elders?

  wht constitutes acceptance of that punishment?

  You are right of course. After my DF'ing, I told my family still-ins that I would not play the game. I never did. I never gave a JW the opportunity to shun me, I totally blanked them and still do so. Sometimes I am approached by them, in which case I'm polite. If they bring up the subject of JW-ism, I politely say that it's not something that I wish to discuss. If they ask if I'm disfellowshipped, I tell them that I have never sat before a judicial committee.
